Teaching Group-Piano Effectively
Distance Teaching: Using the Power of the Internet to Reach Students Anywhere!

This workshop focuses on the basics of teaching group piano. After a brief history of group piano in the United States, we will explore technology, music, materials, and other considerations when setting up and teaching group-piano classes.

Benefits of learning to play piano with a group include that students develop independence, they  motivate each other, learn from one another, and develop poise when performing and playing together. This workshop delves into group theory and ways in which we can apply it in group-piano classes. We also explore strategies used by highly-effective and expert group-piano teachers and discuss common pitfalls encountered by new group teachers and how to avoid them.

Teaching music over the Internet and using technology to enhance traditional lessons has become more common as we move into the 21st century. However, it can be overwhelming for teachers to being to use and incorporate technology into traditional lessons. During this session we will look at simple ways to incorporate technology into private lessons and get an overview of teaching music online!
